GOALS:
1. To develop a better fitness base.
2. To begin the development of fine ball skills.
3. To begin the development of working as a team.
Equipment:
· Netball ball
· Cones
Session:
Warm-Up
· Run 2 laps of the netball court
· High knees, 2 times for 10 metres
· Butt kicks, 2 times for 10 metres
· Pair up and pass 40 times as quick as you can
· Stretching for as long as the coach defines.
Work-Out
1. Run and move into space:
- Player 1 runs towards the player with the ball. On reaching the middle cone player 1 moves to receive the ball from player 2 on the outside (right) cone and turns to pass the ball to player 3.
- Player 1 moves to stand behind player 2.
- Player 2 repeats the practice with player 3 in the opposite direction.
- Process repeats
2. Pass and run drill:
- 4 cones in a square on the ground with one person on every cone.
- Player 1 passes to player 2. Player 2 passes back to player 1 and runs to cone 1. Player 1 passes ball to player 3 and runs to cone 2.
- Player 3 passes to player 4. Player 4 passes back to player 3 and runs to cone 3. Player 3 passes ball to player 2 (on cone 1) and runs to cone 4.
- Process repeats.
3. Running and passing drill:
- 2 players with one ball.
- One line of six cones set up evenly from one end of the court to the other. 5 metres to the side, 6 cones are lined up in the same way.
- Player 1 starts on one side and player 2 starts on the other, holding the ball.
- Player 1 runs to the next cone along and receives the ball from player 2. Player 2 runs to the second cone down and receives the ball from player 1.
- Player 1 runs 2 cones forward and receives the ball from player 2. Player 2 runs 2 cones forward and receives the ball from player 1.
- Player 1 runs 2 cones forward and receives the ball from player 2. Player 2 runs to the final cone and receives the ball from player 1.
- Player 1 runs to the final cone and receives the ball from player 2.
- Both players slowly jog around the outside of the cones to the start of the drill, ready to begin again.
4. Clock drill:
- Cones set up in a square that is 10 metres across from each diagonal corner.
- Player 1 has the ball and is standing on one corner. Player 2 is standing in the middle of the square, facing player 1.
- Coach calls out any number on the clock and player 2 has to run to that position in the square relative to where he/she was standing. When player 2 reaches that position, player 1 passes the ball to player.
- Player 2 passes the ball back to player 1 and returns to the middle of the square.
- Process continues until players swap.
Cool Down
· Round the world shooting drill. When a person gets out, they slowly jog 2 laps of the court and return to the line to play again. Drill eventually becomes elimination.
· High knees for 10 metres for two rounds
· Butt kicks for 10 metres for two rounds
· Stretches following coach.

- Process continues until players swap.
